Last Saturday 13th July, AddVenture Leisure hosted a charity rowing event that was a huge success. With the support of the local community, the event raised a fantastic £595.80 for the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance (HIOWAA).

The goal for the day was to row a combined distance of 315,000 metres – roughly the length of the perimeter of Hampshire and the Isle of Wight. Not only did participants meet this target, but they exceeded it, rowing an impressive 415,000 metres!

A big thank you goes out to everyone who took part in the event. Your hard work and enthusiasm were crucial in helping us reach and surpass our goal.

Four rowers went above and beyond, including Bruce and Ross who both rowed a full marathon distance (42km); and Charlie and Kelsey who rowed 28km and 12km, respectively.

A heartfelt thank you also goes to AFS CrossFit for hosting the event and to Bruno’s Coffee Shop who provided each participant who rowed 2,000 metres with a free hot drink and cake.

Natalie Russell, Supporter Engagement Officer at HIOWAA, shared her gratitude: “The rowers showed an incredible level of determination throughout the challenge. The encouragement from fellow rowers and spectators made a huge difference. We rely entirely on the support from people in our region to be there for people in their hour of need.”

Ian Knight, Founder of AddVenture Leisure, said: “From what started as a tiny idea of what could we do to raise money for such a good cause it turned out to be a superb day, I didn't really know what to expect but can only thank everyone for helping set it up and of course the rowers who made it happen.

“Thank you once again to everyone involved in making this event a success. We couldn’t have done it without you!”
